RICHLAND, Wash. - Desert Hills Middle School won the Coats for Kids School Challenge.

The Coats for Kids School Challenge is a contest among schools throughout the Tri-Cities to collect the most coats.

Kadlec Medical Center donates $200 dollars to every school that collects more than 100 coats.

They also give $500 dollars to the school that wins.

Kadlec Representative Delt Clark said, "We figured it would be a great incentive."

Clark said many times the schools tell the Kadlec to donate the money that they've won back to the Salvation Army.

All the coats collected go to the Salvation Army and so far they've collected about 2,600.
