YAKIMA, Wash.-- On Tuesday, at the Harman Senior Center there were many people waiting to get help with finding the right prescription drug plan that works for them.
Volunteers from the Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors, were helping people look through a plan finder. It is up to them to find the right plan.
The volunteers had a list of the client's medication, dosage and the time of day they take it.
In Yakima there are 48 plans to choose from, and so much information can be overwhelming for many.
"When you're older your brain isn't as sharp, so it's very confusing, and we don't want people to be overwhelmed we want to help them," said Donna Hilstrum, SHIBA Volunteer Coordinator.
Donna says with premiums going up, people are getting even more material in the mail. This means more deductibles and co pays to look through.
The deadline to pick a plan is December 31st. Donna says the sooner you sign up the better.
