2008 ABRA National Championship trophy falls and shattersPosted: Updated:
MADISON, Indiana - The Madison Courier is reporting that the ABRA national championship trophy took some damage during the recent parade ceremony. Thanks to Kirk Duncan for finding this gem:
When the Oh Boy! Oberto Miss Madison hydroplane reached Main and West streets, there was a ceremony to present its national championship trophy for display at City Hall. After the presentation, while the trophy was being handed down from the judge's stand, the engraved glass plaque fell off and shattered on the sidewalk.
Kirk posted a couple of pictures of the trophy on the HydroInsider.com Live Blog >>
Editor's Note: Kind of reminds me of the time in 1995 when I was working at a TV station in Columbus, Ohio. We had a news crew traveling with Ohio State running back Eddie George as he returned back to town from New York right after winning the Heisman Trophy.
At the airport, the security folks insisted the Heisman had to go through the X-Ray machine... and when it came out, it was missing one finger and had bent the middle finger on the outstretched hand.
