Pasco Woman Finds Out She's Pregnant And Has Cancer At The Same TimePosted: Updated:
PASCO, Wash.-- Don Willeby is asking for help.
"I'm here at Toyota Center to try to get a donation for the silent auction," said Willeby.
"I've hit 54 businesses in the last four days, and I haven't had anyone tell me no," said Willeby.
It's all for one woman.
"I've known Brandi since she was nine years old," said Willeby.
37-year-old Brandi Finch is a single mother of two, and has one more on the way.
"Everything was going fine, except for they were telling me that, every time they did a urine test, they would tell me that there was microscopic blood in my urine," said Finch.
Blood that turned out to be a cancerous tumor in one of her kidneys.
"The tumor was about the size of a baseball," said Finch.
Finch had her kidney removed before Thanksgiving, but will go in for more surgery after the baby is born.
"If I wouldn't have found out that I was pregnant, I may have never known til it was way too late," said Finch.
Brandi has state insurance but it's not enough to cover all her expenses. It's why people like Don are reaching out.
"My big thing is raising money until she can get some help elsewhere," said Willeby.
"It's been hard, it keeps me awake at night, worry about her, she's like another daughter to me," said Darlene McDannold, one of Brandi's good friends.
It's support Brandi says she's not taking for granted.
"It just shows life is short, you never know I mean I went in because I was pregnant and found out that I had cancer," said Finch.
Brandi's friends and family are having a silent auction and spaghetti dinner.
It's on Saturday, December 13th at Lil Pardner's Restaurant in Pasco, located at 1320 N. 20th Street. It starts at 5:00 p.m. Dinner will cost $7.50.
