KENNEWICK, Wash. - Benton County Commissioner Elect Jim Beaver was sworn in Wednesday afternoon.

Beaver said he is excited to take his new position come January First.

Beaver has been the Mayor of Kennewick since 1996.  In the November Election he beat out incumbent Claude Oliver for the District Three Position for County Commissioner.

Wednesday Superior Court Judge Craig Matheson sworn Beaver in and other judges from the Tri-Cities came to show support as well as friends and family of Beaver.

Beaver said, "I feel good today. I'm excited about the opportunity and certainly there's going to be some challenges but it's a good change and hopefully we'll have a real good cooperative attitude towards the commission."

He said his first goal is to create a team among the commissioners.  Beaver said some issues he is concerned about are water and Hanford.

His wife, son, and father were all in the courtroom Wednesday.
