YAKIMA, Wash. - Winter conditions are causing stagnation air so the Washington State Department of Ecology has banned the use of some home-heating devices and all outdoor burning in three Eastern Washington counties including Walla Walla and Yakima Valley.
The stage 1 burn ban is in effect until 10:00 Friday morning.
That means you can't use your fireplace or uncertified woodstoves, or inserts unless that's your sole source of heat.
All outdoor burning is prohibited, including residential, agricultural and forest burning.
You can use use of certified wood-burning devices and pellet stoves.
The ecology department recommends burning hot fires using only clean, dry wood.
