YAKIMA, Wash-- Business is booming for a new Yakima restaurant. Sonic Drive-In officially opened for business Thursday.
Now if you've never been to a Sonic restaurant there are three ways to order. At the drive-thru, from a parking spot or on the patio. A car hop will bring your food on skates, food and entertainment.
You can see the waiters from a mile away, they're wearing bright green shirts and hats. Thursday's grand opening brought a steady stream of customers eager to try the new restaurant in town.
But a drive-in located in Washington, what happens when it snows?
"If the weathers not conducive to skating it's gonna be a possible accident like that what we'll do is we'll have them go ahead and switch to shoes," said Kim Dexter, regional director of Sonic.
It hasn't come to that yet, for now the car hops are busy showing off their moves as they deliver your meal. With 29 parking spots they have plenty of ground to cover. The Union Gap Sonic parking lot is the largest in the company.
That adds up to plenty of opportunities to try Sonic's long drink menu. They boast 168,000 drink combos. If you come between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. you'll hit happy hour.
