Northwest Ski Resorts Waiting for SnowPosted: Updated:
Ski resorts across Washington and Oregon are hoping for snow this weekend. Most of the slopes have not been able to open yet.
The closest open ski slope to the Tri-Cites is Mission Ridge. It was open all day Friday and will be open this weekend.
Some updates on other slopes around the state are Bluewood is still waiting for snow, White Pass is in the same boat. Mt. Spokane is not open, and on the west side Crystal Mountain says they will open a limited number of ski slopes this Saturday.
If you plan to go skiing at Mission Ridge or Crystal make sure you call ahead of time to check for opening and closing times.
Ski slopes in the Northwest in year's past have opened the weekend after Thanksgiving and slopes like Bluewood are hoping for a big snowfall this weekend.
"You know everyday that were not open during the month of December is always a hardship on a ski resort, but we hope people come out in droves for christmas break and that we will be able to catch up," said Amy Warner, Marketing Director at Bluewood.
If you want to make a farther trek Schweitzer Mountain in Idaho is opening Saturday. Mount Bachelor in Oregon will open on Sunday and Mount Hood is still waiting for more snow until they announce when they will be opening.
Call the slope ahead of time to see how many lifts are actually open and what times they open and close.
