Animal Shelter Gives Holiday Thanks

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash--  It was a special way for the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter to welcome in the community, just in time for the holidays.

Kids got to play with the animals, and even visit with Santa Clause at the shelter's open house.  The shelter even got gift, or in this case treats.  And $300 toward a spay or neuter were also raffled off.

The shelter's director says the event was a way to say thank you for the community's support.

"The community support to this shelter is extremely important," says Angela Zilar, director of the shelter.  "Without the community, the shelter wouldn't do well at all.  You've got to have the community's support when it comes to adoption.  If you're a shelter they don't want to go to, you're not going to get the adoptions out."

The shelter says over two truck loads of donations were brought in and 17 animals were adopted during the event.
