People are not the only ones who should be worried about the cold weather.
The Humane Society is urging all pet owners to keep their animals indoors as much as possible. If you do need to put them outside make sure they have a doghouse with the front facing away from the wind. Be sure to put straw inside as well not blankets.
Alan Landvoy is the executive director for the Humane Society of Central Washington. He says to remember pets are not that different from humans.
"They get cold just like people get could out there and even though they have thick coats sometimes, it's still important to keep them warm."
The Humane Society says if you have any questions about how to care for your pet, be sure to check with your veterinarian first. You can also call them as well.
They are also asking the public to help them during this time of year as they collect food for animals at their shelter and pet owners in need.
