Yakima City Council Narrow List of Candidates to Replace Johnson
YAKIMA, Wash. - The city council moved one step closer Monday to picking Norm Johnson's replacement.
During a special meeting open to the public, the council heard from the narrowed down list of candidates for most of the day. Each had three minutes to address the council.
Mayor Dave Edler said this part of the process was helpful for him personally.
"Putting a face to the names and on the applications has been very good for me," said Edler. "I think that seeing people conduct themselves in a pretty stressful situation, this is not an easy thing to do."
The council then met privately in the afternoon and narrowed the list down to six in a separate public session. The search will move forward with new interviews on Dec. 29.
