KENNEWICK, Wash-- The Department of Transportation says within the past three years, some 350 accidents have blocked traffic on or near the blue bridge. But there is some relief in sight.
The Washington State Department of Transportation says construction on a new, $16 million project will start this spring. WSDOT says the new project will cut down the number of accidents.
So here's what the project will do: it will build two lanes for 395 with an off-ramp for State Route 240, and it will build a ramp meter that will hopefully cut down merging accidents on Lewis Street.
WSDOT says drivers should expect to see what they call aggressive work on the project as early as March.
