KENNEWICK, Wash. - A Kennewick man said he was hit by a pick-up truck Monday afternoon and said the driver took off.
He got back from the hospital Monday night. His mother, Donna Rinehart said her son seriously strained his leg during the incident.
The victim was shaken up and didn't want to be identified. He was dressed in all black and walking along 4th Street right under the Highway 395 underpass just before five o'clock Monday night.
He said the mirror on the pick-up snagged the side of his coat. The man is legally blind.
The victim said police told him and his mother there wasn't that much that could be done because the victim couldn't see the license plate.
Police encourage people to find other ways of getting around besides walking in the road if at all possible because of the snowy conditions.
They want walkers to be careful and drivers to slow down and watch out for people in the road.
