Last Minute Shoppers Descend On Valley MallPosted: Updated:
UNION GAP--The halls of the Valley Mall are decked with people as the last shopping day before Christmas winds down.
Whether they're looking for stocking stuffers or their whole list, lots of people are out shopping on Christmas Eve. A Macy's manager says most of those last minute shoppers are exactly who you might expect.
"We see all the men out shopping on this day," Tona Foster said.
Now, why is that?
"I'm a really big procrastinator," Chris Reid said. "I had to put it off I guess."
That doesn't mean it's only guys out here on Christmas Eve. Some people think it's best to wait until the very end.
"It seems better to come last-minute," Maricela Sanchez said. "You find more things. It just seems like less of a hassle."
"Prices go down," James Gjersing said. "You can buy all those last-minute gifts while saving some money."
While the deals may be better, that Christmas cheer can be a lot harder to find.
"There's a lot more people to bump into, you can't really have your personal space," Gjersing said. "Everybody's walking into you. It's a little hectic, there are long lines."
"It's really crowded," Reid said. "I don't like that, but I can put up with it."
Not everyone intends to be out shopping so close to Christmas.
"We see a lot of people that are like okay I left this person out or I need to get something," Foster said. "They're just frantically looking and trying to find that right item."
So will these procrastinators get the shopping done earlier next year?
"I don't know; it's kind of cool fighting for stuff," Reid said. "It's just how I do it."
