Holmgren Saying Final Seahawks Goodbyes

Posted: Updated:

SEATTLE (AP) - Mike Holmgren won't be Seahawks coach next
season, but he is certain the team will win more games.

Holmgren says the team won't have as many injuries next year. He
also expects the people making player decisions will improve
positions that need help.

Holmgren told KIRO Radio that Seattle will always be his home,
although he's building a new house in California. That's one stop
on a long road trip he plans to Arizona.

After 17 years as a head coach, the 60-year-old Holmgren is
taking a year off, although he's says he'll feel a little itchy
when play resumes next fall.

His Seattle tenure ended with a 34-21 loss Sunday at Arizona. He
had a 4-12 record this year and a 90-80 record with Seattle.

Assistant Jim Mora takes over as the new Seahawks coach.
