Realtors Optimistic in 2009

Posted: Updated:
Kennewick, WA- The president of the Tri-Cities Association of Realtors says he's optimistic the real estate market will rebound in the new year.

A new report out today shows home prices continue to drop nationwide, but Bill Prussing  says interest rates falling to historically low levels should attract buyers in the Tri-Cities.

"I'm refinancing my house right now at a rate that's well below five-percent  for a 20 year fixed rate conventional loan. So I think it's an outstanding opportunity to take advantage of some historically low rates right now."

From October through November of last year, 247 houses in the Tri-Cities exhanged hands. In the same period this year, sales dropped to 195 homes.
