YAKIMA, Wash-- Zachary Michael Bangs couldn't wait for his mother's scheduled C-section. He was in such a hurry to be the first New Year's baby he even forgot to flip.

Zachary's doctors had to deliver him via C-section at 5:25 Thursday morning at Yakima's Memorial Hospital.  It was a friendly competition for the title of first born.

"It was cute. When we came in this morning there where some other women who were in labor and someone said oh look here comes some competition," said Lisa Bangs.

Lisa and Michael, the boys father, said the baby was very active yesterday evening. Lisa went into labor while they were shopping at Target. Zachary Michael weighs six pounds six ounces. He's 18 1/4 inches long.

The family should get to take little Zachary home to Toppenish on Saturday.
