KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-Cities got hit with an unexpected snowfall Friday morning after heavy rain turned into big flakes of snow.
Some areas were getting more than an inch an hour from about 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. The City of Kennewick dispatched all seven plows, but drivers said they'd rather deal with slushy snow.
"It's pretty easy to clean up because we can get pretty close to bare pavement when it's wet like that", said Gary Deardorff, Maintenance Operations Manager for the City of Kennewick. "It doesn't compact. It just runs off and starts melting".
