PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Cougs went into Saturday's game with the Huskies with confidence. They had won 7 straight games with their cross-state rivals.
But, Saturday was downright embarassing. The Huskies shot 55% from 3-point range and 48%from the floor.
Players say the team has to play better defense.
Cougar Guard Taylor Rochestie says, "A lot of what Washington State basketball is about is getting motivated and getting pumped up on the defensive end. And when you're not getting stops and you're a defensive team, I think that plays a role offensively. I think when we are getting gritty and bearing down and getting stops defensively, it fires up our offense and we start breaking teams down. But, when teams are coming down and thy're scoring, they get fired up and it gives them a better chance to play better defense. At the same time, we have to execute, we have to finish, we have to find a way to win down the stretch."
