TOPPENISH, Wash. (AP) - A draft report is coming out later thismonth probing 16 unsolved deaths on the Yakama Indian Reservation.
Federal investigators decided to review about Yakama cold casefiles about two years ago. They started with the deaths of 16women, because they were under the most mysterious circumstances.
U.S. Attorney Jim McDevitt in Spokane says a draft report onthose 16 cases will be released to all law-enforcement agenciesinvolved by the middle of the month.
The FBI has jurisdiction on all serious crimes involving NativeAmericans on tribal lands, but some tribal members have questionedwhether the agency is fulfilling its duty on the reservation.
