Time Is Money When Snoqualmie Pass Closes to Truckers
ELLENSBURG, Wash-- Truck drivers were stuck in Ellensburg after another round of snow closed Snoqualmie Pass Sunday night. But, the good news is I-90 is now open in both directions, quite the relief for truckers because as the saying goes, time is money.
The only trucks hitting the road were the ones going Eastbound. Due to high the avalanche risk, Westbound on Snoqualmie Pass stayed closed until around 8:00 Monday night.
One trucker said he makes a third of the pay when he's stuck in one spot. And others said weather and road closures are all a part of trucking.
"I don't know much about the area, but I'd rather just take it easy and make it there safely and back," said Edward Quantina, trucker.
Westbound I-90 was closed at exit 106, causing the trucks to fill the parking lots of gas stations nearby. Truckers said there's not much you can do during hold ups like this one, they just watch movies and sleep.
For travel information on the go you can call the Department of Transportation's hotline, 5-1-1 it'll have up-to-date road closures and conditions.
