Yakima School Board Asks Public to Apply for Superintendent Search Committee
The Yakima School District's Board of Directors is looking for help in the search for a new superintendent.
The public and district staff are invited to apply for a spot on the interview advisory committee. Those who are selected will take part in preliminary interviews during public sessions next month along with the board.
Vickie Ybarra is the president of the district's board of directors. She says the search is a top priority for them right now.
"It is the job of the elected school board to hire and supervise the new superintendent and we view this as one of the most important things we do," says Ybarra. "We are taking it very seriously and we are looking forward to it. "
The board requires applicants live in the district, commit to attending interviews on Feb 11. And Feb 12, and provide written feedback.
The board maintains that members of the public who are not on the committee will still get to offer their input on the search for a new superintendent.
Applications for a spot on the committee are available online at yakimaschools.org.
