KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Kennewick police have another way to track speeds in school zones.
They recently got a new Radar Reader Board Trailer. It displays how fast drivers are going. If drivers are going too fast it flashes a reminder to slow down, and also flashes blue and red LED lights.
On Monday the radar trailer was parked on Olympia street, near Canyon View Elementary. Officers say they hope it's a good reminder for drivers.
"People are in a hurry, they've got to drop their kids off, they have to get to work, I think we get complacent and we're multi-tasking everywhere we go, this is just a reminder you have to slow down," said Officer Michelle Pitts, with the Kennewick Police Department.
Police got the new radar with an $8,700 grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. It will be moved to different school zones and also used on city streets.
