Police Think A Man Lit A Car On Fire and Burned Himself in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Police think a man lit a car on fire and burned himself in the process.

Christopher Lund first went to Kennewick General Hospital with significant burns to his body. Police think this was after he burned the car. The Mitsubishi Eclipse was fully engulfed.

Police say the car belonged to 46-year-old John Winchester. Around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Lund was seen in the 800 Block of Elm Street.

A neighbor tells police he saw Lund light up the car and it looked like he also burned himself. Police tells us Lund poured some type of accelerant on the car and then most likely used a road flare to light it.

Police think this could have started with an order violation.

"There was some sort of court order between Lund's wife and another subject, and Mr. Winchester was scheduled to testify for Mr. Lund's wife," said Sergeant Ken Lattin with the Kennewick Police Department.

Police are still looking for the car Lund drove away in. It's a light gray or blue Ford Contour, with a partial Washington plate reading MVB. If you have any more information police are asking you to give them a call.

Christopher Lund was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was in serious condition as of Wednesday night.
