KENNEWICK, Wash. - Friday night the community remembered Sofia and Maria Juarez.
Maria died without knowing what happened to her little girl Sofia, almost six years after she disappeared.
People from the community walked, holding candles from Washington Street and 15th Street, the place where they believed Sofia vanished, down to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kennewick.
The ashes of 26-year-old Maria Juarez were held by her mother as they marched to the church.
Maria died last week from health complications.
She recently moved to Sacramento, California with her boyfriend and new baby boy.
The mystery of Sofia's disappearance has plagued her family, people in our community and the police.
They held a memorial at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church after the walk.
