UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The outgoing U.S. ambassador to the United Nations is confident the United States even at its weakest moments remains the strongest nation in the world.
That's because he says the U.S. has a unique combination of economic, military, political and cultural power.
Zalmay Khalilzad says that although Russia remains a key global player and China and India are increasing their influence, no country has the "comprehensiveness of power" of the United States.
He also tells The Associated Press that Americans have qualities that will enable them to deal with whatever crises emerge.
Khalilzad says Americans are "practical" people, who think there's a solution for every problem and don't remain committed to the wrong course for a long time because of history or ideology. He says America's strength is adjusting.
