Planned Parenthood of Central Washington Takes Part in National Day of Service
YAKIMA, Wash. - One local group took part in the president-elect's call for a national day of service Monday.
Planned Parenthood of Central Washington had volunteers clean up local parks over the weekend as well as have a membership drive on Monday. The group made calls to their supporters, asking them to be more involved in the legislative process.
Gina Popovic is the organization's director of public affairs for Central Washington. She says a day of service compliments the group's overall mission.
"Planned Parenthood has always been dedicated to volunteer service, I personally have been volunteering since I was 13," said Popovic. "We think that people being involved in the solution is the best way to come up with a sustainable solution."
The group hopes its supporters will reach out to legislators and advocate for what they believe is best for a healthier Yakima.
