KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A local girl wins a national honor. Nicole Renard is from Kennewick and she won the 2008-2009 National All American Miss Pre-Teen.
Nicole became interested in pageants a few years ago when her sister started competing in them. She stuck with it and traveled to California in November. There, she beat more than 60 other girls in three categories to win the honor of National All-American Miss Pre-Teen.
Nicole says everything she's learning now will benefit her later in life. "I did get a scholarship for college and you also meet a whole bunch of new friends. When you go, you make long lasting memories and you gain future skills such as interview." She says she would love to someday interview for a job as an animator for Disney-Pixar.
In the mean time, she gets to travel to different pageants around the county. She still has to keep up her grades up in school. Nicole in 8th grade at Desert Hills Middle School and has managed to get straight As. Her family's rule is homework first. She has to get it all done before she can work on pageant skills or dancing, which is another hobby of hers.
