Congressman Doc Hastings Talks about the Inauguration
WASHINGTON D.C.-- Congressman Doc Hastings was at President Obama's inauguration Monday and told us about his experience.
He says it was very cold, it was about 25 degrees during Obama's speech, but this inauguration proves to the world we have a peaceful transfer of power.
Wednesday, at eight in the morning, Hastings will attend a coffee party hosted by Senator Patty Murray. The party is for nearly a 1,000 Washingtonians who travelled to D.C. for the inauguration.
Just about all of the Congressional Delegation from our state will be there and also Senator Maria Cantwell. Hasting says he was surprised by how many people from our region are there now.
"We had a number of residents who came from districts obviously to the inauguration so we had something like maybe 200 tickets and all those were accounted for so we had a lot of people from home here," said Hastings.
Hastings says he has only met Obama in passing, but hopes to meet with him and discuss some of the issues from our region.
