WEST RICHLAND, Wash. - A West Richland man pleads not guilty to charges of second-degree rape of a child, but police have pictures they say prove he's guilty.
Police are accusing 36-year-old Matthew McCracken of West Richland of raping the teen in a public school playground last June. The rape didn't come to light until the girl told a friend at school in December, who became concerned and told police.
Officers later searched the man's home and found a sexual object they believe he used to rape the girl, along with a receipt showing McCracken as the purchaser. Officer Clark Boyer with West Richland Police tells me investigators have searched McCracken's computer as well, and found photos of the rape taken on the man's camera phone.
"We searched the computer and found the pictures that were described by the victim during the same date and time period that the victim said it occurred," said Boyer.
Boyer also says there may be other victims out there in this case and police encourage people to make a report.
McCracken now sits in the Benton County jail awaiting trail to start March 16th, 2009. His bail is set at $300 thousand dollars.
