SEATTLE (AP) - Mariners' left-hander Erik Bedard is fully recovered from surgery on his pitching shoulder and will be ready for the start of spring training.
During the Mariners' pre-spring training gathering yesterday, athletic trainer Rick Griffin said he visited Bedard last week and said the maligned lefty will be ready by Feb. 13.
Bedard had surgery in late September to remove a cyst from his shoulder and have tissue cut from his labrum. His disappointing first season in Seattle ended July 10.
Bedard, eligible for free agency after the 2009 season, went 6-4 with a 3.67 ERA in 15 starts in his abbreviated first season with the Mariners. He received a $750,000 raise in arbitration last week and his raise could total $1.3 million if he stays healthy in 2009.
