YAKIMA, Wa.- The Perry Technical Institute is adding a program that will help their students be better qualified for the medical field. The medical coding and bill specialist program does two things. It teaches students the terminology used in medicine.
Then it shows students how to use that knowledge to assess billing and medical service costs.
One administrator says medical coders are always in high demand and that medicine is a field that is constantly growing.
"People are always going to need medical attention...and help to staff these facilities and help doctors and physicians do their job correctly," said Nathan Hull, the department head for Perry Technical Institute.
The program will begin in April. So far nine people are enrolled.
