2 die in crashes near Auburn, Mount Rainier park

Associated Press - February 8, 2009 1:45 PM ET

AUBURN, Wash. (AP) - Two women have died in car wrecks, one west of Auburn and the other outside the northwest corner of Mount Rainier National Park.

State troopers say 26-year-old Nora A. Jerry of Auburn died early Saturday when a car went off Interstate 5 and slammed into some trees at the interchange with State Route 18. A man in the car, 35-year-old Marcelino Rosales-Avendano of Tacoma, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Investigators believe alcohol or other drugs were involved. It's unclear who was driving.

On Friday night a woman was found dead after her car rolled over about 10 miles east of Carbonado in southeast Pierce County.
