YVCC Visiting High Schools to Educate Families About Running Start
Yakima Valley Community College (YVCC) will be visiting high schools across the Yakima Valley over the next few weeks to spread the word about the Running Start program.
Students can take classes at YVCC and receive college credit while they work on high school requirements at the same time. Through the program, they have the opportunity to complete an associate's degree and their high school diploma at the same time.
Staff say the program is flexible and students can decide if they want to be part-time or full-time. Juniors or seniors can enroll into Running Start so any interested sophomores or juniors should plan on attending the upcoming info sessions. To qualify, students must attend a public school or be home schooled in addition to taking an exam and placing into college level courses.
YVCC will have two sessions this week. The first is Tuesday night at Mabton High School. They will visit Sunnyside High School on Wednesday night. The info sessions will continue through March.
