YAKIMA, Wa.- After the coroner's autopsy and examination of14-year-old Francisca Hernandez-Ramirez's body, detectives say they are now investigating this case as a homicide.
Francisca was reported missing on October 20th of 2008. Detectives in Sunnyside received information that she was killed and her body was left in an irrigation canal a few hours after she left a party in Outlook. Her body was found in the Yakima River near Prosser on Friday. After examining her body, detectives say this was an act of homicidal violence.
"Her body was found in the river, it had already been washed through the irrigation canal and it has injuries that are that of a homicide," said Detective Stew Graham from the Yakima Sheriff's Office.
Detectives say they do have a few suspects in mind but no names or information on these leads have been released. Detectives say they will continue to investigate the case.
