New & Locally Owned Radio Station In the Tri-Cities
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- You may have seen U-Rock trucks or bumper stickers around town and wondered what it was all about.
It's a new classic rock station, and it's locally owned and operated. Jeff Jacobs grew up in the Tri-Cities and spent 15-years in radio here before starting U-Rock. He says he felt there wasn't enough classic rock in the Tri-Cities and it was always his dream to own a radio station in his home town.
U-Rock has been on the air for about a year now, and now the general sales manager, Will Baumann, says they've worked out all the kinks. He explains, "We're fun. We have a local feel to it. Best DJs on the planet, I think, also the music is great. Instead of 500 songs, our play list is 1500 songs. People appreciate the trivia DJs know about the bands."
Some DJs and shows are syndicated, while others are local. They're working on a new DJ station in their Kennewick studio.
You can catch U-Rock on 95.3 in the Tri-Cities, 9.1 in Umatilla County, and 101.1 in Walla Walla and LaGrande.
