UMATILLA, Oregon - Oregon State Police issued a warning Tuesday afternoon about potentially dangerous parts of grenades that could turn up somewhere near the Columbia River.

Authorities said that someone threw a white plastic bag with 45 grenade fuses into the Columbia River off a bridge in Umatilla off I-82.

It happened on January 31st.

Experts say that if the fuses are handled inappropriately they could explode and cause serious injuries.

The person who threw them into the water wanted to get rid of them after another person brought them to his work in the Hermit area to show them to him.

If anyone comes across the fuses near the Columbia River they should contact police immediately.
