Park and Recreation Commission Votes to Keep Parks Open in Richland.
RICHLAND, Wash. - The Richland Parks and Recreation Commission have voted to keep Westward, Barth, and Greater Years parks from closing.
The vote came after an earful of complaints from residents who were all against closing the parks.
The idea to close the parks came after a survey showed people weren't using them and the city then considered selling the properties. But many spoke up saying the parks are being used. One concerned Richland resident even brought pictures showing people at the parks.
After an hour-long open session, the commission voted to save the parks and will now take their recommendation to the Richland City Counsel.
