Burned Body Found in Sunnyside Vineyard, Victim Identity Unknown
SUNNYSIDE, Wash-- More foul play in the lower valley. Yakima County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body burned beyond recognition outside of Sunnyside. The charred body was found Thursday afternoon in a vineyard.
Detectives haven't identified the body. But, they were able to pull some clean fingerprints. Now it's a just matter of figuring out who the victim was.
The fingerprints didn't produce any hits with criminal records. But, detectives also look to see if the description matches any records of reported runaways.
What detective do know is the body appears to be male, 15 to 25 years old, about 5'6" tall, around 135 pounds. Hair, eye color and ethnicity were not distinguishable because of the burnt state of the body.
The victim was found by people working in a vineyard. It's located near Sunnyside, around Arrowsmith Road and Hanford Road. Thursday was the first time in several weeks workers had been in that portion of the vineyard. Detectives said the body could have been there for several days. An autopsy is pending.
