KENNEWICK, Wash- There is a consumer alert about another text message scam. In the past we've reported that Gesa and Yakima Federal Savings Bank were victims of text message phishing, but now another local bank, Numerica Credit Union, is starting to have problems.
If you get a text message saying your account at Numerica Credit Union was going to be locked and needs to be restored delete it. Don't reply to it or try to call the number it gives you.
"Don't respond to it and just delete it and if you just need to have a little bit of confirmation contact your financial institution and share with them what came through and then they will advice you," said Gina Brown, Numerica Branch Manager.
It's important that if you get a text don't respond. The scammers are trying to get your account information.
