Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - He is 94 years-old and the oldest living retired member of the Washington State Patrol.

He lives in the Tri-Cities and visited with Kennewick troopers Friday night.

Robert Rupp spent 36 years with the Washington State Patrol and spent 12 years as the Benton County Sheriff.

Rupp met with current troopers to talk about the history of the patrol.

He said troopers should appreciate the equipment they get today.  He said, "These old cars we drove when I first went on, they were just a piece of junk."

He showed them old pictures and told stories about his time on the patrol.

Friday night he was picked up in a patrol car to attend the meeting and said, with a laugh, that it had been the first time in a long time he rode in a patrol car.
