GRANGER--A Granger man shoots a woman dead in a bar, then turns the gun on himself.
Friends and family of the shooter, 64-year-old Salvador Ramirez, are stunned that he did this and had no explanation for his actions.
Police were called out to the Circle Inn Tavern around 12:30 a.m. this morning. When they got there, 49-year-old Eliva Antunez Roman had already been shot dead.
Ramirez's grandson said he had never seen Roman before. He said his grandfather was dating someone else. Witnesses saw Ramirez and Roman dancing together at the bar last night.
One witness thought Ramirez was going to ask her to dance again.
"He was walking up to the lady and he was smiling," Carmen Torres, who knew Ramirez, said. "He had his hands in his pockets and he told her something, but I couldn't hear because the music was loud. Then I just heard the bang [of the gun] and he took off running."
Police said Ramirez went to his house a few blocks from the bar and shot himself.
