Pitchers and Catchers Report, Silva is 33 lbs. Lighter
PEORIA, Ariz. -- The Mariners have a new pitcher in camp, a day after catchers and pitchers first reported to spring training. They claimed right-hander Luis Pena off wavers from the Milwaukee Brewers.
And another Seattle pitcheris hoping to show new Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu a lot this season. After signing with Seattle, Mariners pitcher Carlos Silva went 4 and 15 last season while earning over $8 million.
So over the off season, he worked out and he says he has lost 33 pounds. Silva says, "I feel really good, very excited to be back. Everybody knows how last season went and so this off season I tried to get in shape ... that's what I did this off season I wanted to give the fans what they deserve this year."
