Stop Calls From TelemarketersPosted: Updated:
TRI-CITIES, Wash-- It's illegal for telemarketers to call your cell phone or landline if you're on the Do Not Call List, but some how they still get a hold of your number.
If you are getting calls from the same telemarketer repeatedly try Googling the number. Most likely other people are receiving the same annoying calls.
KNDU found several blogs about specific numbers many have been receiving illegally on their cell phones.
People list ways to report them and also what the caller is really trying to get. Besides registering your home phone on the Do Not Call List you can also list your cell phone.
If you are still receiving calls you can file a report with the National Do Not Call List. The Better Business Bureau gets several calls about the scams some telemarketers try to pull.
"The biggest thing to remember is not to be pressured into doing anything at the spur of the moment because that's what the telemarketers are pushing for, they want to get as much information as they can and some are legit and other one's are not," said Norma Miller, Better Business Bureau.
In Washington telemarketers can only legally call you between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Police say to call them if a telemarketer gets your personal information.
