KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The 2009 Hydro Races are still more than five months away, but the votes are in for the 2008 races, and it's exciting news for the Tri-Cities.
Every year hydro owners, drivers, officials, and fans vote in the American Boat Racing Association's poll. This year, they voted the Tri-Cities as the best race site of the year!
The ABRA awards were last Saturday in Madison, Indiana. Best race site of the year wasn't the only award the Tri-Cities won. The president of the Tri-City Water Follies Association, Mike Denslow, explains why his feet were tired after the ceremony as well as other awards we won. He says, "The Tri-Cities ended up winning several awards. So, we were making a trail from our table to the front because KNDU won 2 awards and KONA won an award and one of our photographers, Chris Denslow, won an award. So, we were up there a lot." Also, Lamb Weston won a marketing award. As you may remember, they will be the sponsors again this year. Mark your calendars for the races, they're going to be July 24th through the 26th.
As Denslow mentioned, KNDU did win two awards; one was for best season coverage and the other was for our website, which is Hydroinsider.com.
