Teen Starts Fundraiser for Walla Walla Humane Society

Posted: Updated:
WALLA WALLA, Wash-- A sixteen year old from Walla Walla is getting an early start in doing his part for the community and could be recognized by the city council.

Colton Langworthy is trying to raise $3,000 and collect 2,000 lbs of food for the Blue Mountain Humane Society.

He is a junior at Lincoln High School and volunteers at the humane society. About two months ago the humane society thrift store in Walla Walla closed. All of it's profits were going to the pets at Blue Mountain.

Once Langworthy heard about this he decided to do something about it. He wants to raise the food and money by September 1st, 2009. He's been passing out flyers and going to local churches to get help.

"They need help, they're innocent little animals, people just drop them off. The director here told me that she's really glad that I'm the youngest person to have a fundraiser for the humane society," said Langworthy.

If you would like to donate please call KNDU at 509-737-6725. They hope to collect blankets and bed sheets, canned food for cats and dogs, and toys that are safe for pets to chew on.
