Business At Mall Stores Affected By Lockdown in Kennewick

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Staff from different stores at the mall say Tuesday's lockdown was definitely not a good start to their Tuesday.

The mall was shut down from 9 a.m. until about noon. One thing to keep in mind is that the mall doesn't open until 10 a.m. So these stores were behind about two hours in sales.

Some of the employees say Tuesday is usually not a busy day, and having to open later doesn't really help.

Todd Gaines a retail supervisor tells us how, it's a big hit in their sales.

"The way we set up is, we have hourly goals and to miss those hourly goals and you know miss a day like this so far, really means we're going to have to cut into labor, unfortunately it means we're going to have to cut into our numbers," said Todd Gaines, a store Supervisor.

Since stores were closed and no shoppers were around, some stores could be cutting some hours.

Other workers say their deliveries were also pushed back for the day. The nail salon at the mall had to cancel three appointments in the morning because of the lockdown.

Other hair salons also had the same problem.
