Common Problems with the DTV Switch & Tips to Fix Them

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- KNDU/ KNDO is now only broadcasting in digital, and we are still receiving phone calls with confusion over converter boxes.

Two most common problems are not re-scanning for channels & not adjusting your rabbit ear antennas.  First, make sure your converter box is set up properly, then here are some tips for our most commonly asked questions:

To scan for channels,  you must use your converter box remote. Press the menu button and scroll through the menu until you find an auto scan option and press enter.  Scanning for channels may take several minutes, so be patient while the digital receiver locates all available channels.

To adjust your rabbit ear antenna, you do it just like you did before you had the converter box. Move the antennas around until you get a better signal.  Some converter boxes have a menu option called "Signal Strength," where you can see on a meter how strong your signal is.  Move it around until it is strongest, or get a roof-top antenna for maximum signal strength.
