PASCO, Wash-Franklin County Commissioners say they are running out of beds in the Franklin County Jail.
They are looking for options to either expand the current jail or build a new regional jail with Columbia County. They say the current jail needs to be three times larger, but they need funding.
"If we don't do something quickly we are going to have to release these prisoners in the jail and because we don't have the space, more will be out on the streets," said Rick Miller, Franklin County Commissioner.
Franklin County Commissioners say one funding plan could be to add an extra sales tax just within the county to help raise money to expand the jail.
