Man Arrested Monday Night For Eluding Pasco Police On Wet Roads

PASCO, Wash. - A man was taken to the Franklin County Jail Monday night.

Pasco Police say he crashed after trying to flee in his car.

Just after 7 o'clock at night 26-year-old Miguel Torres Perez was allegedly seen driving reckless by Pasco Officer Brad Gregory.

Police think he was traveling more than double the posted speed limit of 30 miles an hour near 14th and Court Street.

When they tried to pull him over he apparently took off and ultimately crashed into a bush, then tried to run on foot, but was caught.

Police call his behavior dangerous.

Sgt. Ben Majetich said, "To me, it's just as bad as assault. Going in a two ton vehicle that fast trying to get away from police for whatever reason, people can get hurt.  I think it's a very serious matter."

He said the wet roads also contributed to the danger.

Police say Torres-Perez lives in Richland.

He faces eluding charges.

Authorities are glad no one was hurt.
